There have been reports coming out for a while now about lead paint being linked to violent behavior. However, the following story takes a look at the past use of leaded gasoline winding up in soil. Sometimes even the best of ideas can have the worst of consequences. See the link below.

The City of New Orleans has found high levels of lead in public playgrounds and is working to remediate the soil. Part of the issue is the incredibly high number of old houses in New Orleans that were painted with lead-based paint. When it comes time to sand and repaint, not everyone follows the rules to prevent lead from entering the air and eventually winding up in soil.
The Environmental Protection Agency has been cracking down on some residential violators, as I wrote about previously. Here are suggested guidelines from EPA when renovating a building with lead paint. Safety first should be everyone’s priority.

If you need help determining if your property has lead paint, or if you need guidance on how to properly renovate a property, feel free to contact me.

Stay unleaded, my friends.
